SDAA Pays Reward

Based on information given to us by the Oceanside Police Department, SDAA has paid the Sasha Fund reward of $10,000 to the person who provided the proof leading to the arrest and conviction of a serial animal abuser.  David Herbert of Oceanside was convicted of multiple felony animal abuse counts, as well as charges of burglary and vandalism.  He is awaiting sentencing and faces up to 16 years in prison. We are very grateful to the informant, who wishes to remain anonymous, and to the officers of the Oceanside Police Department for their tireless efforts to bring a vicious animal abuser to justice.

In the face of California's severe ongoing drought, it's time to finally make the connection between animal-based diets and devastating water shortages. 47% of California's water footprint is associated with meat and dairy (Pacific Institute), despite the fact that vegetarian diets require half the water (UNESCO) and each person eating a vegan diet saves 600 gallons of water per day (National Geographic). Help others make this urgent connection! Restaurant signs, lawn signs, and informative factual leaflets are available at
